Transport information

Under “Transport information”, there are fields for the following details:

  • means of transport at departure
  • means of transport at the border
  • containers and seals
  • transport documents
  • route.

Means of transport at departure

Select the means of transport used for transporting the goods to the place of exit.

Provide the means of transport by clicking on “+ Add departure transport means”. 

Choose the “Inland transport mode”.

Under “Means of transport at departure”, provide e.g. the registration number of the vehicle onto which the goods have been loaded as the identification of the means of transport. Provide the details of both tractor and trailer.

The identification number is not provided if the mode of transport is “5 – Postal consignment” or “7 – Fixed transport installations”.

As the type of identification, choose the appropriate alternative, e.g. “30 – Registration number of the road vehicle”.

In the field “Nationality of departure transport means”, choose the country of registration of the means of transport. The nationality is not provided if the mode of transport is “2 – Rail transport”, “5 – Postal consignment” or “7 – Fixed transport installations”. 

Means of transport at the border

In the field “Mode of transport at the border”, choose the mode of transport by which the goods exit across the EU border.

In the field “Identification of means of transport at departure”, enter the registration number of the active means of transport. The active means of transport is the one which propels the whole combination (for example, if a lorry has been loaded onto a seagoing vessel, the ship is the active means of transport).

If the mode of transport is “4 – Air transport”, provide the flight number (IATA/ICAO), e.g. AY123.

In the field “Type of identification”, choose the appropriate alternative, e.g. “30 – Registration number of the road vehicle”.

In the field “Nationality of active border transport means”, choose the country of registration of the means of transport as the nationality.

Containers and seals

If you indicate that the goods are in a container by entering the container id number, the box next to the field will be ticked. You can also tick the box yourself.

If you are providing a container detail or seals, click on “+ Add container or seal”.

If the goods are in a container at the time of declaration, enter the container number in the field “Container identification number”. For a sea container, provide the identification number in the format “four letters + six digits + hyphen + check digit”.

You can provide a seal by clicking on the pencil icon. A new window will then open. When you have provided all seals, click on “Save”. The window will close and you go back to the declaration. The number of seals is filled in automatically when you have provided the seals. 

Enter the goods item number in the field “Goods references” (Declaration goods item numbers). You can provide the goods items by clicking on the pencil icon. A new window will then open. When you have provided all goods items, click on “Save”. The window will close and you go back to the declaration. This detail is mandatory if you provide more than one container or seals.

For example, if the declaration covers five goods items and the goods are loaded in two containers, indicate which goods items are loaded in the container in question. 

Transport charges method of payment

If the export consignment only has one transport charges method of payment, provide the method of payment here. If the goods items have different methods of payment, provide this detail at goods item level. The detail can only be provided at one level.

Transport documents

Add a transport document by clicking on “+ Add document”. Choose the document type and provide the document identification. If needed, upload an attachment. 

Route

Country of export 

The service fills in this field automatically based on the details you have already provided.

Country of destination 

The service fills in this field automatically based on the details you have already provided.

Routing countries

If the goods aren’t carried directly to the country of destination, you should also provide the countries en route to the country of destination. The country of export and the country of destination must also be provided here. For example, if the goods are transported from Finland via Sweden, Denmark and Germany to the United Kingdom, provide the following routing countries: FI, SE, DK, DE and GB.
