Settings

You get to the user settings by clicking on the cog icon for settings in the top menu on the front page.

In the user settings, you can edit the following details:

  • service provider role
  • consent for electronic notice of decisions
  • message settings
  • default values
  • number of rows for lists
  • other settings

When you log in for the first time, complete and edit your user settings. In the settings, enter the email address to which notifications shall be sent when your declaration requires measures. The information saved in the user settings will be displayed automatically in the declarations. You can also edit the user settings later.

Electronic notice

The service requested consent for electronic notice when you logged in to the service. When you gave your consent, it was automatically saved in the service settings.

If you copy an old declaration as a template, you can’t remove the consent details in the declaration you are submitting.

If you wish to edit your choices regarding electronic notice, click on “Edit”. In the pop-up window that opens, you can edit the choices.

  • If you give your consent for electronic notice, tick the box “I consent to Customs sending me all customs clearance-related documents and messages electronically to the email address I have provided. The consent covers decisions, requests for additional information, other documents and messages”. Add the email address before clicking on “Save”.
  • If you wish to withdraw your consent, untick the box and remove the email address before saving the changes.

You can give your consent in the user settings of the e-service also while completing a customs declaration before you submit the declaration to Customs. If you edit the consent details in the user settings while completing a declaration, the details will not be updated in the declaration you are completing. You will need to add the consent to this declaration as follows:

  • enter the email address in the “Parties” section, under “Email address for notifications”
  • remove the additional information code “FINCO – The customer does not consent to receiving electronic notifications” from the additional information at declaration header level.

You can withdraw your consent in the user settings of the e-service also while completing a customs declaration before you submit the declaration to Customs. If you edit the consent details in the user settings while completing a declaration, the details will not be updated in the declaration you are completing. You will need to withdraw the consent from this declaration as follows:

  • remove the email address from the “Parties” section, under “Email address for notifications”
  • add the additional information code “FINCO – The customer does not consent to receiving electronic notifications” to the additional information at declaration header level.

If you don’t give your consent, Customs will send the documents by post. Please note that this will cause a delay in the customs clearance. If you choose to receive documents by post, you will not receive email notifications of any matters related to customs clearance.

You will still see Customs’ requests for additional information and documents, as well as the customs clearance decisions, decisions on release and other documents in the Customs Clearance Service, even if you haven’t given your consent for electronic notice. Even in this case, you should use the Customs Clearance Service to reply to the messages Customs has sent by post.

If you have given your consent for electronic notice, you will receive email about declaration-related messages sent to you by Customs, regardless of your choices under “Message settings”.

By clicking on “Continue” you’ll save the edited details and return to the front page. If you click on “Close”, the edited details will not be saved and you’ll return to the front page.

Message settings

If you wish to receive email notifications of messages sent by Customs concerning declarations, enter your email address in the field “Email address for notifications” and tick the box “Receive email notification about new messages”.

Default values

In the settings, you can edit the following default values displayed in the declaration: contact person’s phone number, contact person’s email address, transaction language and trader office code. The default values are always used when you start a new declaration.

Number of rows for lists

You can choose the number of rows you wish to see on a list. The default is 10 rows for declaration lists and 5 rows for other lists.

Other settings

The default setting is that the Tab key will open the tooltips for each field. You can change this setting, if you want the Tab key to skip the tooltips and take you directly to the next field. You can change the setting under “Other settings” by unticking the box next to the text “Move to the tooltips by using the keyboard…”.

The service will automatically fill in the additional information code “FIPDF” in declarations. This means that the service generates a PDF document in the prescribed form, and you can retrieve it later from the e-service. Tick the box “I don’t need documents in PDF format” if you don’t need e.g. a decision on release to be presented to the transport company or the warehouse keeper.

A PDF document will be automatically generated from a transit declaration without the additional information code “FIPDF”. Even if you tick the box “I don’t need documents in PDF format” the PDF documents will still be generated
